Waste testing involves a series of laboratory and field procedures that determine the physicochemical, biological and toxicological properties of waste for the purpose of its classification, treatment, storage or disposal. Waste classification is regulated by the Regulation on categories, testing and classification of waste ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No.: 56/10, 93/19, 39/21 and 65/24). Waste testing is performed:
- in the case of determining the nature of the waste produced,
- for all types of hazardous waste,
- to check whether the waste is suitable for treatment and recycling,
- by order of the competent authority,
- for issuing and extending a waste management permit,
- for transboundary movement of waste,
- to determine the radioactivity of waste
